Moosa in Egypt
Misr = a township or Egypt.
The word misr appears 5 times in the Qur’aan (translation
taken from the Noble Qur’aan):

Baqarah 2:61
|
اهْبِطُوا
مِصْرًا فَإِنَّ لَكُم مَّا سَأَلْتُمْ
|
Go you down to any town and you shall
find what you want!"

Yoonus 10:87
|
وَأَوْحَيْنَا
إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَأَخِيهِ أَن تَبَوَّآ لِقَوْمِكُمَا بِمِصْرَ بُيُوتًا
وَاجْعَلُوا بُيُوتَكُمْ قِبْلَةً
|
And We inspired Musa (Moses) and his brother
(saying): "Take dwellings for your people in Egypt, and make your
dwellings as places for your worship,

Yoosuf 12:21
|
وَقَالَ
الَّذِي اشْتَرَاهُ مِن مِّصْرَ لِامْرَأَتِهِ
|
And he (the man) from Egypt who bought him (Yoosuf),
said to his wife
|

Yoosuf 12:99
|
فَلَمَّا
دَخَلُوا عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ آوَىٰ إِلَيْهِ أَبَوَيْهِ وَقَالَ ادْخُلُوا مِصْرَ
إِن شَاءَ اللَّهُ آمِنِينَ
|
Then, when they entered unto Yusuf
(Joseph), he betook his parents to himself and said: "Enter Egypt, if
Allah wills, in security."

Zukhruf 43:51
|
وَنَادَىٰ
فِرْعَوْنُ فِي قَوْمِهِ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ أَلَيْسَ لِي مُلْكُ مِصْرَ وَهَٰذِهِ
الْأَنْهَارُ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِي ۖ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ
|
And Fir'aun (Pharaoh) proclaimed among
his people, saying: "O my people! Is not mine the dominion of Egypt, and
these rivers flowing underneath me. See you not then?
|
Waadi Tuwa - Tuwa is a name of a valley (not
mentioned where)
إِنِّي أَنَا رَبُّكَ
فَاخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
"Verily!
I am your Lord! So take off your shoes, you are in the sacred valley, Tuwa.
Taha
20:12
إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ
الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى
When his Lord
called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa,
Naziat
79:16
Toor (means a mountain with trees and vegetation)
وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَكُمْ وَرَفَعْنَا
فَوْقَكُمُ الطُّورَ خُذُوا مَا آتَيْنَاكُم بِقُوَّةٍ وَاذْكُرُوا مَا فِيهِ
لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ
And (O
Children of Israel, remember) when We took your covenant and We raised above
you the Mount (saying): "Hold fast to that which We have given you, and
remember that which is therein so that you may become Al-Muttaqun (the
pious) Baqarah
2:63
Ibn
Abbaas said the Toor is in Palestine (Tafseer Baghawee)
وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ
وَطُورِ سِينِينَ
وَهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ الْأَمِينِ
1. By
the fig, and the olive,
Teen
95:1-3
Shaykh Sa’dee indicated that these were the three
places of Prophethood:
1. Prophet Eesaa
عليه السلام was in Shaam (The Levant: Palestine,
Jordan, Lebanon, Syria),
2. Prophet Moosa
عليه السلام was in Sinai and
3. Prophet Muhammad
صلى الله عليه
وسلم was in Makkah.
وَشَجَرَةً تَخْرُجُ مِن طُورِ سَيْنَاءَ
تَنبُتُ بِالدُّهْنِ وَصِبْغٍ لِّلْآكِلِينَ
And a tree
(olive) that springs forth from Mount Sinai, that grows oil, and (it is a)
relish for the eaters.
Mu’minoon
23:20
Shaykh Sa’dee mentions ‘in the area of Shaam’.
(Side note – olive trees grow in Shaam and Northern
Arabia)
